Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées Airport, ideally located at the heart of the South-West Region, serves the cities of Tarbes and Lourdes (located just 10 km from each other) as well as the Pyrenean Moutains. From the airport,  it is very easy to reach all the fabulous tourist sites of High-Pyrenees area including Pic du Midi, the Natural Cirque of Gavarnie, the 10 ski stations, the Marian City of Lourdes, but also the Atlantic Ocean and the spanish side.

Created on 12 July 2005, the Joint Association for Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées Airport  area “PYRENIA” is a public company grouping together 3 territorial collectivities: 

  • The Conseil Régional Occitanie (Occitania Regional Council)
  • The Conseil Départemental des Hautes-Pyrénées (Hautes-Pyrénées Departmental Council)
  • The Communauté d’Agglomération Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées (Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées Conurbation Community)

The French State granted PYRENIA the ownership of Tarbes Lourdes Pyrenees Airport as well as the planning, maintenance, and management responsibilities. In 2020, it is within the framework of a Public Service Delegation that PYRENIA chose SPLAR (Société Publique Locale Aéroportuaire Régionale) to operate the Airport’s flight platform for a 9 years contract (2021-2030)..

A diversified traffic

With an average of 430.,000 passengers per year, it is the 3rd largest airport in Occitania Region (after Toulouse Blagnac and Montpellier Méditerranée airports). Its close proximity to the Marian City of Lourdes (10 km) explains strong seasonal traffic activity between April and October and an increased number of international passengers (80%).

Since 2009, the airport has diversified its traffic (historically mainly charters flights) and now serves major European capitals via direct flights operated by regular and low-cost companies.

Thanks to its 3,000-metre runway and infrastructure designed for international traffic, Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées Airport can welcome all types of plane including the A380 and the Beluga, which regularly use LDE platform for their training flights.

The development of the operations of private and business aviation with the construction of a business terminal and dedicated aircraft parks in 2011 offering crew and private passengers hig quality spaces and personalised services.
