Getting from the airport to the city center

  • BUS : Economical and quite efficient
    Malta Public Transport Company: The network serves all tourist towns/resorts and almost all villages from 5:30am to 11pm on average.

    Attention : The timetables are rarely respected (allow between 15 and 30 minutes of margin...).
    Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines or the information kiosk at Valletta Bus Station or directly on the bus from the driver.
    The Explore Card can also be purchased in certain shops and bookstores: daily rate €15 / weekly rate €21 adults and €15 children (under 10)
     
  • BY BOAT : 
    Malta-Gozo-Comino connections: Numerous daily inter-island crossings with the Gozo Channel Companydeparting from Ċirkewwa (on the northern tip of the island of Malta) or Mġarr (on Gozo).
    Malta to Gozo: 1 crossing every 45 min. approx., journey time = 30 min.
    Prices : €4.60/passenger (€1.14/child), €15.60/car + passengers in high season. €4.05/passenger in low season or at night, €12.80 for a car.
     
  • By CAR : Driving is on the left. .
    GPS devices often only recognise Maltese names of towns and streets.
    Please note: Gas pumps rarely accept payment cards.
    Parking in Malta and Gozo: the green demarcation on the ground means that parking is residential, in blue, that it is paid (coin-operated parking meter) and in white, free and without time limit.
     
  • CAR RENTAL OR OTHER :
    Necessary conditions: to rent a car or 4x4, you must be at least 25 years old (21 years old if you have taken out comprehensive insurance) and at most 70 years old. A national driving license is sufficient. An international payment card is required.
